UNESCO acknowledges Bhutan institute with grant

Bhutan Media and Communications Institute

Bhutan Media and Communications Institute receives UNESCO grant.

We’re pretty excited about this!

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has awarded our partner organisation in Bhutan with a grant under the International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC).

The Bhutan Media and Communications Institute (BMCI) was awarded the grant to facilitate the introduction of the Diploma of Journalism course that The Australian Academy of Media is seeking volunteers for.

This will provide much needed funds to assist BMCI in launching the course, pursuing regional network and accreditation for the course, as well as assisting in modernising their facilities. The grant will be used across financial year 2019-2020.

International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC).

The IPDC is the only multilateral forum in the UN system designed to mobilize the international community to discuss and promote media development in developing countries. The Programme not only provides support for media projects but also seeks an accord to secure a healthy environment for the growth of free and pluralistic media in developing countries.

Over the last 30 years, following the decisions and guidelines of the Intergovernmental Council and its Bureau, the IPDC has focused its projects on the most urgent priorities in communication development all around the world.
